How to delete a Twitch clip - step-by-step guide
If, as a streamer, you want to retain control over the clips that are created on your channel, you can delete them at any time. As a viewer, you can delete the clips that you have created yourself. Here is a simple guide on how to do this:
- Open the clip manager: Go to your profile by clicking on your profile picture in the top right-hand corner. Select "Video Producer" from the drop-down menu. This area is your hub for all video content, including your clips.
- Select the Clips tab: You will see a menu on the left-hand side. Click on "Clips" here to get an overview of all the clips you have created yourself. As a streamer, you will also see all the clips that have been created on your channel - both by you and by your viewers.
- Select clip: Search through the list of your clips and find the clip you want to delete. It can be helpful to use the sort function, e.g. to sort the clips by creation date or number of views.
- Delete clip: Once you have found the clip you want to remove, click on the three small dots (⁝) to the far right of the clip. A trash can icon will appear here, which you can use to delete the clip. Confirm the deletion to permanently remove the clip.
Tip: Think about whether you might want to download the clip before you remove it for good. Find out more here.
Have Twitch clips blocked by others - here's how
If you have found a clip that violates Twitch's Community Guidelines, you can report it. Both streamers and viewers can report clips if they contain inappropriate content. Note, however, that reporting is only possible if the content actually violates the Twitch guidelines.
How to report a clip:
- Open the clip you want to report.
- Click on the three dots (⁝) next to the clip and select "Report".
- Choose a reason for the report and submit it.
After you report the clip, the Twitch team will review the content and decide whether to remove the clip or take other action.
How long is a Twitch clip saved if it is not deleted?
Twitch clips are available on the platform until they are actively deleted. This means that clips are theoretically stored indefinitely and can be accessed by viewers at any time. For streamers who want to maintain their channels in the long term and build up an archive, this is an ideal way to permanently record highlights and important moments.
However, you should note that Twitch occasionally adjusts policies and makes changes to the clip system. It is therefore advisable to download important clips regularly in case they are no longer available one day.
